Choose a Utah owned HVAC Company
Choosing Pro Care Heating and Air over a private-equity-backed company keeps service personal, not transactional. That means fair pricing, honest recommendations, and technicians who are focused on fixing problems, not hitting sales quotas. Private-equity companies tend to prioritize rapid growth and returns, which can lead to upsells and significantly higher costs. With Pro Care, you’re getting accountability, continuity, and fantastic service rooted in trust, not pressure.
Single Stage vs. 2 Stage Furnace
Choosing between a single-stage, two-stage, or variable-speed furnace comes down to comfort goals, budget, and how refined you want your system to feel day to day.
Single-stage furnace
This is the on-off light switch of furnaces. It runs at full speed whenever it’s on. Pros: Very reliable, lowest upfront cost, simple design, fewer parts to repair. Cons: bigger temperature swings, louder operation, and slightly higher energy use.
Two-stage furnace
Think dimmer switch. It runs on a low setting most of the time and kicks into high only when needed. Pros: more consistent temperatures, quieter operation, better efficiency than single stage. Cons: Higher repair costs, more complexity, may need new control wire and thermostat. Cost is mid-range (normally $800-$1200 more than single stage) Comfort is noticeably better.
Variable-speed (modulating) gas furnace
This is cruise control. It constantly adjusts BTU and fan output to match your home’s exact needs. Pros: most even temperatures, very quiet, best efficiency. Trade-off: highest upfront cost and more complex components. Typically$1800-$3200 more than a single stage furnace .
Bottom line:
• Single stage = simple and affordable
• Two stage = best balance of comfort and value
• Variable = top-tier comfort and efficiency
The right choice depends less on what’s “best” on paper and more on how you want your home to feel every winter day. We are happy to provide our recommendations the best choice for your home.
Not Choosing Higher SEER AC Systems.
Balanced performance vs cost
In Northern Utah’s climate, summers are warm but not sweltering year-after-year like the desert Southwest. A mid-range SEER (13–16) unit hits the sweet spot: it delivers solid cooling without the premium price tag you pay for ultra-high SEER models that shine mostly in long, brutal heat waves.
Shorter cooling season means less payoff
Higher SEER ratings save more energy in climates with long, hot summers. Northern Utah’s cooling season is relatively short, so you won’t recoup the extra up-front cost of high SEER equipment as quickly.
Fewer complexities, lower repair costs
Lower-SEER units are simpler machines with 1 stage, less parts, and control complexities. That can mean easier maintenance, fewer repairs, and lower lifetime costs, which is a win in day-to-day reliability.
Better match for heating-centric homes
Many Utah homes rely heavily on heating. Cooling is only 20–30% of your annual energy use, over-optimizing your AC efficiency isn’t as impactful as picking the right furnace.
Our friendly and skilled technicians are here for you through the seasons with affordable quality and great service .
“We called Matt from ProCare to give us a second estimate on replacing our furnace and A/C unit.
His bid was almost $1100 less than a comparable bid from another company.
We scheduled the replacement and they installed our new system in less than a week. They were on time, cleaned up our furnace room and did a great job. They even explained the features of our new system and programmed our thermostat.. Great guys and 100% will recommend to our friends.”
